West Virginians for Life, Inc.
Morgan County Chapter

                                                October  2012
Dear Fellow Pro-Lifers,

Why We Must Continue the Pro-Life Cause
Evil will triumph only when good men do nothing! Please become active!
In the time it takes you to read this letter, abortionists will kill 30 babies in the US.
West Virginians for Life is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to seek the protection of all human life from conception until death and to end the practices of abortion, infanticide and euthanasia.  Our organization needs your help. Become more active. There are many things you can do that require very little time. Even 30 minutes a month will save lives.

12th Annual Respect Life Dinner
On September 22 we had our 12 annual Respect Life Dinner. This year we held it again at the Berkeley Baptist Church Family Life Center. We thank them for providing this facility to us. We had over 90 in attendance for what was probably our best event yet. Many thanks to many people starting with Carol Ambrose who under short notice did a good job of being the MC, Barbara Carr for managing the Silent Auction which involves a lot of work including the collecting  of donations, Pastor Everett Powell who gave a great invocation, Bob Williams and his wife Eun Yea for the great music, Helgi Nelson for his information on the Knights of Columbus and their participation in the pro-life cause, Allen Loughry for an inspirational pro-life speech, Eun Yea Williams who handled tickets and collected donations at the door, Robin Moreland and the three women from Berkeley Baptist Church who kept the food warm, handled the food tables and took care of the kitchen work, Sharon De Poorter who cooked all of the sides, Joe De Poorter who handled the drinks and was the photographer for the evening, Bette Burke who cooked and solicited desserts, all of the women who brought desserts, Joe DePoorter who took picture, all of those who gave donations for the Silent Auction, all of the people from the Berkeley Baptist Church who helped set up and clean up after and to the many others who I have not mentioned here.

Apple Butter Festival Booth
We will again have a booth in the Apple Butter Festival on Saturday October 6 (9am to 5pm) and Sunday October 7 (noon to 5pm) . We need volunteers for both days. Please call me so I can set up hours for staffing the booth. This is one of the most enjoyable events of the year when we have the opportunity to educate people on life issues. Everyone enjoys seeing the young children come to see the fetal models and have them explained by their moms or a booth staffer. The young girls are especially interested and are usually given a model. Some of girls keep them all year and come back again and again.
We will be giving away balloons, with pro-life messages, and lots of pro-life material. We will be selling pins, bumper stickers, license plates and more.
I can also use some help setting up the booth on Friday evening before the event. Give me (Jim Fritz) a call at 258-9189 or my cell at 582-9917.

Apple Butter Festival Parade
We will again have a float in the Apple Butter Festival on Saturday October 6th. Bob Ezolt is the driver. We need volunteers to carry the banner and lots of kids to ride on the float. Hopefully Bob Williams will be playing music as you ride along. Bring and wear your blue pro-life tee shirt. You need to be at the parade by 7:30 AM. You will be held up for an hour after 8 AM if you are leaving the area.  Give me (Jim Fritz) a call at 258-9189 or my cell at 582-9917.

State Convention
On Saturday, October 13 West Virginians for Life will have their 36th annual convention in Fairmont, WV. This one day event includes many educational sessions, exciting speakers and fellowship, luncheon, and association with other pro-lifers. The key speaker for the day will be Burke Balch, J.D. of the Robert Powell Center for Medical Ethics. Other speakers will include Karen Cross, NRL Political Director and Wanda Franz, president of WVFL. Teens are welcome. Bring your teenager.
The cost for attending this function is only $35 and includes all presentations and lunch. If you are interested in attending, the Morgan County WVFL will pay this fee for you. Give me (Jim Fritz) a call at 258-9189 or my cell at 582-9917.
Life Chain
We will be joining prayer partners from all over the country to pray for the end of the abortion
It is only 1 hour of your time on Sunday October 14 from 2-3 PM. We will meet at 1:30 in front of the St. Vincent de Paul Rectory (on 522 across from the Country Inn) for a kick off prayer. Curtis Perry will provide the signs and prayer cards. You simply stand along a designated place on 522 and SILENTLY PRAY for 1 hour. We need lots of young people. Please pass the word on and come join us. Tell your friends. This is a way to make you presence felt and to positively affect others. So let’s get this rolling.
Teens, please come and join us for this single hour. If you prefer to stand with your mouth taped shut as a symbol of those who cannot speak for themselves, you can even do that.
If you cannot stand for the entire hour or have health issues, bring a lawn chair to sit in. I you have questions call Curtis at 304-676-6822 or Jim Fritz at 258-9189 or my cell at 582-9917.

Rose Dinner, Morgantown
The annual Rose Dinner will be held on Thursday, November 15 in at the Leach Lake Resort near Morgantown, WV. Keynote speaker will be Robert George, Ph.D.
.           This dinner is a more formal affair where pro-lifers can relax, enjoy the company of other pro-lifers, enjoy an excellent meal and good music. Key persons from the national level on down will be in attendance. This is also a fund raiser for the state WVFL and the cost is $50 per person.

Sidewalk Counseling
We are always looking for sidewalk Counselors at the Hagerstown Abortuary. We go three days a week in the mornings on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Anyone may come down and pray. To be a counselor you must attend a one hour training session. As of today we have saved 302 babies from being killed and an equal number of women from physical and mental problems since we began our effort in October 2006. If you want more information, give me (Jim Fritz) a call at 258-9189 or my cell at 582-9917.

Other Activities
Barbara Carr needs a break from the Silent Auction. Is anyone interested in taking over this job? It not only includes the setting up and the auction at the dinner, but also the solicitation of the prizes.

We need a Phone Tree Coordinator. Someone needs to set up the list as distribute then make phone calls on critical events such as voting in the state and national legislatures.

County Chapter Leader, Jim Fritz, needs a break. He has been doing this for 15 years and is now 80+ years old.

Need more info on any of these? Give me (Jim Fritz) a call at 258-9189 or my cell at 582-9917.
Vote on Tuesday November 6

The most important thing you can do is to vote on Election Day and vote for a pro-life candidate.

As  one church leader said, "A vote for a candidate who promotes actions or behaviors that are intrinsically evil and gravely sinful makes you morally complicit and places the eternal salvation of your own soul in serious jeopardy." Be careful how you vote.

The following is a list of candidates for Morgan County as recommended by WVFL after analysis by members of the board. Each candidate’s response to inquiries and their voting records were evaluated. All are republicans except as noted.

US President                       Mitt Romney
US Senate                            John Reese
Governor                              Bill Maloney
