GABRIEL PROJECT
Making
a difference
in the lives of mothers & their babies
For more than 14 years, the Gabriel
Project of West Virginia has been providing immediate, practical and
tangible assistance to expectant
mothers and families in need.
Our Mission
Gabriel Project of West Virginia is
committed to protecting and honoring life. To do this, we provide immediate and
practical support to pregnant women and families with infants and young
children less than two years of age.
Who We Are
Gabriel Project of West Virginia is a
501(c3) non-profit organization founded in Wheeling in 1997. Today, we serve
needy West Virginia families in more than 25 WV counties through four chapters
and over 130 volunteers. Our state office is located in Charleston. Morgan
County Gabriel Project operates as part of the Eastern Panhandle chapter.
Gabriel Project seeks to improve the
quality of infant lives before and after birth. We provide tangible,
compassionate assistance that helps parents give their children a healthy and
safe start in life. We do not lobby nor do we attempt to influence legislation.
We are independently organized and not part of any religious group in West
Virginia. Our services are provided without regard to race, color, religion,
sex, disability, age or national origin.
What We Do
Gabriel Project benefits families and
single mothers who do not have the financial ability to meet the tangible needs
of a new baby. We provide items such as safe cribs, secure car seats, diapers,
formula, clothing, and hygiene products at no or low cost to our clients. We
also provide mothers with emotional support, answer questions about baby care,
offer informational materials, and make referrals to other social service
organizations.
Gabriel Project assistance is provided
by volunteers called, “Gabriel Angels,” working through their local chapter or
through an ecumenical network of churches across the state.
Who We Help
Unlike other
women and children service organizations, we do not impose financial
restrictions or eligibility criteria on our clients. We therefore frequently
assist needy families who “fall through the cracks” in qualifying for other
agencies’ services. We serve teen-aged mothers and single moms who do not have
the support of their families. We serve homeless women, families without jobs
or with low-income jobs, women and children who are victims of domestic
violence, and
countless others. Although we primarily serve mothers and mother-to-be, we also
assist fathers and grandparents in caring
for their child or grandchild.
We Need Your Help
Through your
time, effort or donations of items or money, we can provide services to area
families in need. Please see our wish list for items on the other side.
